Yeblang Special A Star Jelly Cream Review

"A cream fit for a princess"  is the perfect description for today's skin care product review - The Yeblang Special A Star Jelly Cream.

This lovely cream is made of two major ingredients, Astaxanthin and Peptides. Astaxanthin is a natural pigment that functions as a natural sunscreen for marine plants.  Along with its UV protection properties, it removes and protects the skin from free radicals, is anti-inflammatory and slows aging. Peptides are portions of protein that interact wth cells, in this case, the skin cells. They function as moisture binding agents and together with Astaxanthin they work hand in hand to hydrate the skin and slow down the aging process of the skin. Other ingredients are artichoke and seaweed extracts that help with skin firming.

Isn't the packaging wonderful? As I said above, it is perfect for a princess and made to be placed on top of a vanity. It is encased in a glass jar with a gold lid. The cream is in a mandarin orange color and smells like one too!

The jelly cream has the shape memory technology (firming effect to the skin) that I have first encountered from the Mizon Returning Starfish Cream. The shape form technology formula will keep the surface of the cream flat.

This cream has a lovely jelly texture that easily glides on the skin. It leaves the skin slightly tacky but that feeling leaves after a couple of minutes. The skin will feel slightly taught, smooth and surprisingly hydrated too.

The Yeblang Special A Star Jelly Cream is phenomenal in my opinion! I feel like this cream is the perfect combination of the Mizon Returning Starfish Cream and the  Verikos Collagen Tightening Cream which I both love! The scent of the A Star is very similar if not the same with the Verikos Collagen Tightening Cream.

I am so in love with this cream! The packaging, the scent, the texture, the overall firming and moisturizing effect of the cream is just fantastic. I know I probably painted this cream as the greatest product but the Starfish Cream and Collagen Cream are both my favorites so I'm glad to found a product that can be both in one!

I look fresh faced and glowing in the photo above. This product is priced between 80-90,000 Korean won ($80-90). It is quite expensive so I probably won't repurchase this but it is definitely something that I would want to get my hands on again when I run out of it. As an alternative, check out the Verikos Collagen Tightening Cream which is only around $25 last I checked on G-Market.

White Cat Super Berry Silky Eye Balm Review

Who wants to get rid of those dark under eye circles? Me! I've always went on and about trying to find a product that would get rid of my naturally dark bags hoping that everytime I get an eye cream or eye patch they would miraculously disappear overnight with use of the product.

On today's chopping board is the White Cat Super Berry Silky Eye Balm.

This eye balm has anti-aging effects that's prevents and improves wrinkles and lightens dark spots. It is made of 12 berry extracts like Chinese matrimony vine, raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, anai, bilberry, adenosine and beeswax.

This product claims to also act as an eyeshadow primer so you can use it underneath makeup while also incorporating it in your skin care routine.

The balm is white and solid and you have to swirl your finger in it for a minute to warm it up and be able to get some actual product. Texture is creamy and dries powdery.

It is unscented so if you have a sensitive nose, then it's not a problem at all.

I have mixed feelings about this product. It seems very promising at first but there's no actual result that I can see when it comes to the promised lightening of dark circles and improvement of fine lines and wrinkles. I also can't tell if it is a good eyeshadow primer since there's no difference at all with or without it.

It is a "meh" product for me. I guess I should use it for a longer period of time to really see any results but as of now, there really isn't anything I can say much about it. Packaging is cute though. This product retails for 32,000 Korean won ($32).

Catalina Geo Color Capsule Makeup Base Review

Back in August I received an item from my BNT Beauty Box that quite baffled me. Whenever BNTNews would send a blogger her box, they also send us an email that has product list and description of the items that we would receive.  I was supposed to get the Catalina Geo Color Capsule Makeup Base but then I was sent the I-MIIX Magic Capsule Silky Make Up Base instead.  They are made by the same company but packaged differently to attract probably a different audience, but I was assured that both are made equally the same.

Finally, the day came for me to finally review the Catalina Geo Color Capsule Makeup Base.  In this review I'm going to compare the I-MIIX and the Catalina Geo just to make sure they are the same and also to see if one or the other is better since I received a different color capsule this time around.

I do have to give it it to Catalina Geo Color Capsule for the packaging. I definitely prefer this kind of packaging since it looks more professional and high end.

This product is a color correcting makeup base which is made of visible color capsules.  It fixes skin tone, protects from UV rays, improves natural skin color and also provides hydration and extends makeup wear. It also claims to be free of any oil so it is safe for use especially for sensitive skin type.

The Catalina Geo Color Capsule Makeup Base comes in five shades: pink, violet, green, white and blue. I have received the violet shade.

I copied this list of color correction guide from my review on the I-MIIX Magic Capsule Silky Make Up Base so that it would be easier to determine what each color does for the skin.

PINK - Great for brightening and eliminating signs of fatigue

VIOLET - Eliminates yellow undertones perfect for those with dull, pasty yellow complexion

GREEN - Neutralizes redness

WHITE - Product usually is translucent (colorless/clear) on application and has brightening properties

BLUE - Neutralizes orange hues and hyper pigmentations

YELLOW - Eliminates purple and blue colors on the skin like bruises, veins and dark circles

So as you can see on the bare face comparison photos above, it does look like there was a brightening effect.  The skin tone seemed to be more even - less redness and dullness.

Texture is smooth and lotion-like with a hint of floral scent. My face also didn't feel hydrated nor dry. These are both the same findings as I had with the I-MIIX Magic Capsule. There really isn't much of a difference between the pink and purple based color capsules as well.

The only major difference is the staying power. I have previously complained that the I-MIIX didn't do anything to extend my makeup (4 hours maximum) and wasn't good with oil control on a hot, humid day. Well, the Catalina Geo Color Capsule works the opposite. It is very good with extending my makeup and oil control was decent. I'm not completely saying the other one is better or different because I have to factor in the seasons which I tried out each product. I tried the I-MIIX Magic Capsule during the midst of summer so it was understandable why my skin was producing more oils then. This time around I'm trying out the Catalina Geo Color Capsule during winter where my skin is drier than other times of the year.

Both I-MIIX and Catalina Geo are quite impressive since they both make my makeup look so flawless whenever I use it as a makeup base. I also tried using this just to freshen up my bare faced look and it does the job of making your skin look rejuvenated on those lazy, no makeup days. I really do like this product this time around so I'm going to make use of this as much as I can now that the weather still permits it since I don't want to be a greaseball again when it gets warmer.

I think this product is worth a try if your looking for a good color correcting base. I also recommend this product to those who are more on the drier side of the scale. This retails for 47,000 Korean won, which is about $47.
