Catalina Geo Lash Power Volumizing Mascara Review

Since it's summertime, less makeup is the way to go especially with all the heat and humidity. We don't want any of our makeup running when we get all sweaty. I tested out the Catalina Geo Lash Power Volumizing Mascara on a hot summer day to see if it is a good summertime mascara.

As expected from Catalina Geo, the packaging is gorgeous in all gold. The mascara is a nice, natural bristle wand that I personally quite like. These kind of spooly grabs on to the lashes perfectly and gives an even coat of mascara to the lashes.

The Catalina Geo Lash Power Volumizing Mascara claims to give a 3D Volumizing effect to the lashes, give detailed long lash look without clumping, wear for 12 hours, is smudgeproof and cleanses easily.

Without mascara

My lashes are thin and stick straight that it is hard for me to find a mascara that would maintain a curl and give length and volume at the same time. I have curled my lashes in the photo above prior to mascara application so you can see how my lashes hold up with the mascara in place.

With one coat on Catalina Geo Lash Power Volumizing Mascara

With one coat of the mascara, you can clearly see that it did manage to give volume to the lashes and slightly lengthened it as well. The curl is still there but has slightly dropped.

With two coats of Catalina Geo Lash Power Volumizing Mascara

With two coats, you can clearly see the volumizing effect and lengthening effect although it looks very clumpy to me. The curl is still very much intact in the photo.

A few things I've noticed, it doesn't give defined lashes with volume, instead, it clumped together giving it a spidery look. There isn't that much length that was added although my lashes look quite long in the photos but this is only due to the fact that product itself is extremely black and when they coated my lashes it gave the illusion of length. Sadly, the curl didn't really hold up because prior to taking the last photo above, the lashes became droopy and I had to curl the lashes again to make them pop up.

I wore this mascara for the entire day during a really hot summer day. I found out that although this is smudgeproof, this is definitely not sweatproof and waterproof. It would hold up to minimal sweat but if you plan on working out with this mascara on or dive in a pool, this is not the way to go. This easily comes out with water and light rubbing so it's fairly easy to remove.

Volumizing? Yes, it did give me thicker looking lashes. No clumping? Definitely not since my lashes look spidery. If that is not called clumping then I don't know how else to define it. Smudgeproof and twelve hour wear? A yes and a no. Yes, if you are wearing this on days where you don't sweat and the temperature is cool. This would definitely not hold for 12 hours if you wear it on a hot summer day, working out, going to the beach and pool or doing any activities that allows you to sweat a lot or be in contact with water.

To be fairly honest, I was never a huge fan of non-waterproof mascaras. I always buy waterproof ones because my eyes water all the time. Since I'm also a contact lens user, There are times that I would re-wet my eyes with solution and I just don't want to risk my mascara running when I do that. Also, due to the nature of my lashes which is thin and straight, waterproof mascara just gives more hold to a curl.

Although the Catalina Geo Lash Power Volumizing Mascara didn't exactly do as it claims to do (on my lashes), I still see potential in it. I sometimes enjoy the spidery lash look. In fact some people absolutely loves that look that other brands even came out with mascaras that can get you to achieve the clumped lash look. Although I don't really mind the curl not holding up, my huge deal breaker is it not being waterproof. That is just a personal preference on my part. If you are looking for a volumizing non-waterproof mascara then you might want to give this a try. I really hope that they would come out with a waterproof formula because I honestly am warming up to the look the lashes gave me.

*This product was sent to me for review but as always, my reviews are honest and based on my own opinions and experience.
