Nature Republic Ginseng Royal Silk Watery Cream Review

A multi functioning cream that is made to whiten and improve wrinkles, the Nature Republic Ginseng Royal Silk Watery Cream has become such a popular skin care product.

This cream boasts of expensive, high quality ingredients made from ginseng extracts, 99% pure gold, royal jelly and gold silkworm.

Ginseng has been used as an anti-aging ingredient in a lot of skin care products and has been known to have a lot of benefits to one's health. It is greatly used in Oriental herbal medicine and has the properties for vitality and skin rejuvenation and regeneration. It boosts skin firming collagen that helps reduce wrinkles and fine lines. It also has a whitening property which gives the skin a brighter and youthful look.

Royal jelly is another popular ingredient in skin care products.  Royal jelly is a creamy white or pale yellowish substance made by worker bees to nurse baby bees. It is basically the "milk of bees" and cannot be reproduced by any laboratory. Some of its skin care benefits are reducing inflammation, prevents premature aging and increases circulation.

Anything that uses gold in skin care helps with reducing fine lines and wrinkles as well.  It also helps improve blood circulation, reduce skin dryness and lightens the complexion. The use of silkworm increases protein and collagen production.

I am quite pleased with how the packaging looks - it's very pretty and looks great on top of a white vanity. If there's one thing I must point out about the packaging, too much material is wasted because the jar is too big and the content is little, although the actual product is quite a generous amount, the jar is just too big and bulky. This reminds me of the Nature Republic Snail Solution Cream I reviewed awhile back wherein the jar was pretty big too.

The first thing I always do when I open up any skin care product is to smell it. The scent of this cream was fresh, it didn't have any herbal scent as I expected it to have since it's made out of ginseng. Ginseng itself has a strong aroma and I was expecting it to smell like freshly boiled ginseng root but it has a cool, fresh, watery scent. I particularly like that kind of scent and I always love skin care product that smells fresh and clean. However, I was quite disappointed after my first use because a strong, heavy, perfume scent lingered on my skin and it gave me quite a headache and it immediately took me right to bed.

The cream itself is not as "watery" as I expected it to be.  I was expecting it to be like the Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Combination Watery Cream that I really loved which dissolves into a watery formula when applied on the skin. The Ginseng Royal Silk Watery Cream however has that slippery feel that is reminiscent of silicone based face primers. It doesn't absorb fast on the skin and leaves a slightly tacky feeling which is not that bad but just slightly uncomfortable to me since I can definitely feel it sit on top of the skin.

I find the gold flecks on the cream really cool and I like how it dissolves well. You can seen how pretty the cream is on the jar and it looks like a pot of gold honey.

I have been using this product for quite awhile, almost 4 weeks, but I haven't seen much difference on my skin. It does leave the skin fully hydrated (a great sign that it is a great anti-wtibkle product) but I couldn't see any brightening and whitening effect.

I was very hopeful about this cream and I had a lot of expectations but I'm really sorry to say that it just didn't suit me. That strong perfume scent after application was my biggest concern since it gave me headaches. I didn't get used to it even after using it for awhile. I also recommend using this as a night cream if you have problems with strong scents like I do.

The Nature Republic Ginseng Royal Silk Retails for about $66. It is quite pricey because you're paying for the quality of the ingredients used. This product is certified by the Korean Institute for Skin and Clinical Sciences for its moisture, wrinkles and elasticity improvement.

Hanskin Snail B.B Cream Review

For quite some time I have been looking for that BB Cream, CC Cream and cushion that could be my perfect shade match but I have never been that fortunate. I have long ago given up on buying these particular products online because I end up not using them once I realize that they are way too white or ashy for my complexion. Everytime I go to a store I would swatch endless of Asian base products and just be saddened by the thought that I couldn't find anything worth buying and trying.

Here I am today reviewing the Hanskin Super Snail B.B Cream. My initial thought on this product was... "Oh boy, here we go again with the ghostly makeup." But I needed to be positive and throw out all my preconceived notions on BB Creams so I can give a fairly honest review and here's my full and honest opinion about this product.

Let's start with the packaging. It is a lovely white and gold that is really my style. It has a frosted cap and gold pump which is efficient and keeps it sanitary. So far no complaints there.

The Super Snail B.B Cream has snail slime as its major ingredient that promotes moisture and hydration as well as provides nutrients to the skin and is recommended to people who have dry skin. It has whitening and anti-wrinkle properties as well as SPF 30 PA++ to protect your skin from the harsh UV rays.

Above is a photo of one entire pump of the BB cream. It doesn't seem much, but believe me, it goes a really long way. On the photo below is a swatch of it. It is not thoroughly blended out but it obviously looks 3 shades lighter than my skin. And here comes the ghostly look again, I thought to myself.

Above is a photo of me using the BB cream. I don't have a primer on nor any other base product. I also used my cellphone camera so the photo is not high quality as the rest above.

The best way to apply this Super Snail B.B Cream is to place an entire pump on the back of your hand, dot it all over your face and use a damp makeup sponge or beauty blender. Makeup sponges helps apply the product evenly, blot the excess and makes the makeup look more natural and flawless. With the use of a beauty blender I was able to apply a light coverage of the BB cream on my face without looking to ghastly white. I look paler than how I normally look but it is not such a drastic shade for me. For someone with a fair to medium skin tone like me, you can definitely get away with using this BB cream as long as you apply a light coverage with a makeup sponge. Of course, using your fingers and a makeup brush will give you a higher coverage but remember you should have a similar skin tone to the BB Cream in order for this to work on you.

My skin is in a weird combination state lately sometimes it's oily and sometimes it's dry because of the changing season. This BB cream is a huge help for days when I want to have a light coverage but still retain moisture.

I had a pretty good experience with the Hanskin Super Snail B.B Cream. I'm thinking I shouldn't give up yet on finding the perfect shade match for my Asian base makeup. This is not perfect but close and I really enjoyed using it. I'll put it to more good use over the next few months.

This product retails for 25,600 Korean won which is about $26.

[Pinky Paradise] GEO Eyevelyn Silicone Hydrogel Circle Lens in Brown Review

The deal breaker on circle lenses or any contact lens for me is their wear and comfort.  Kim of KimKine has raved about the Silicone Hydrogel Circle Lenses and I have been extremely curious on why she thinks this is way better than regular circle lens.

For someone who has been wearing soft contact lens for more than 10 years, I have gone through a lot of regular soft contacts and circle lens but I haven't heard of these Silicone Hydrogel lenses until I came upon Kim's reviews. Surprisingly, after researching this particular type of lenses, I have actually tried them before (Air Optix Aqua) and didn't realize it!

Today's review will be on the GEO Eyevelyn in Brown sent by Pinky Paradise.  The Eyevelyn series from GEO Medical are silicone hydrogel lenses. The most common problems that contact lens users encounter are red eyes, blurred vision and eye discomfort which is due to hypoxia or lack of oxygen. Silicone Hydrogel lenses are more advanced than regular,  soft, hydrogel lenses since they allow more oxygen to go through the lenses into the cornea thus will enable your eyes to breathe more and retain moisture for a longer period of time than the regular ones, greatly reducing the instances of hypoxia.

GEO Medical is my favorite brand of circle lens after buying my first ever circle lens by them 8 years ago. I didn't even try other brands other than GEO for years until I started this blog in 2011.

The Eyevelyn Silicone Hydrogel Circle Lenses has a diameter of 14.2mm, 0.2mm slightly bigger than the average circle lens at 14mm. A 48% water content, base curve of 8.6mm and 1 year of life span. It's specs are very similar to other regular circle lens but with a slightly higher water content of 48% whereas most circle lens only have 38%.

All GEO lens vial comes with an authentication code which you can check on their anti-fake website

The Eyevelyn comes in two colors, Brown and Choco. Brown is lighter and has a more golden tone to it while the Choco is a much deeper shade of brown, great if you have a lighter colored eyes to achieve a two toned effect.

What I have here is the Brown which gives a very natural eye look. It doesn't have a thick and dark limbal ring (the black outer ring) which gives the big eye effect thus the 0.02mm extra in its diameter isn't really that noticeable. It gives eye enlargement but very slight and very natural as well. You can't even tell they are circle lenses since they look like your real eye color.

I certainly didn't have a problem with their wear. I have used this particular lens for over 16 hours and I only had discomfort when the wind was blowing right on my eyes. My eyes didn't dry out as easily in comparison to wearing other circle lens. I don't suggest wearing any contact lens that long but there are some really tough days that you can't help but wear a lens that long and the GEO Eyevelyn Silicone Hydrogel Lenses really helped me battle such a day.

Comfort: ♥♥♥♥/5

I'm really glad I tried out the silicone hydrogel lens! It's super comfy and I really love how they look. It's natural and gives a slight eye enlargement that is just perfect for me.  Thanks to Kim for introducing me to Silicone Hydrogel Circle Lenses and to Pinky Paradise for allowing me to try out the GEO Eyevelyn. I'm excited to try out more silicone hydrogel circle lens in the market and I'm also very happy that GEO Medical hasn't failed me in any of my circle lens.

The GEO Eyevelyn retails for $23.90 at Pinky Paradise. Each purchase of a pair of the Eyevelyn comes with a cute macaron case.

Pinky Paradise has been around since 2006 and is a trusted and renowned online retail merchandiser of trendy circle lens. Their CUSTOMER SERVICE is excellent. Despite this post to be a sponsored blog post, I have previously purchased from Pinky Paradise and I know that they truly deliver and they answer any questions you might have about your purchase or orders. They have 900+LENSES to choose from with authenticity guaranteed. They also offer free shipping to orders over $130.

[Klenspop] NEO Vision Ring's Black Circle Lens Review

NEO Vision has quite a number of circle lens styles (Black Cat, Cosmo Yearly Hazel, Ruby Queen Gray) and today's review is on the Ring's Black. This was sent by Klenspop for review and I finally got around to reviewing them.

I always like how nicely packaged these lenses are and in one box everything you need is included: a pair of lenses, lens case and plastic lens tweezers. I have usually no need for these plastic tweezers but I find them useful in picking up lenses whenever I have really long nails and I don't want to risk "death of circle lenses by nails." LOL. It also comes in handy when you need to place the lenses perfectly on the cases for photos. ;)

The Ring's Black has a diameter of 14.0mm, base curve of 8.6mm, and a water content of 38%. These lenses are meant to be worn for a 6 month period.

The lenses have a spiky black design that looks very edgy. For someone with naturally dark colored eyes, this circle lens just make your eyes look really wide and deep, very mysterious and slightly hollow. You barely see any difference in color with my real eyes and the lenses since my eyes are naturally dark. This would be really pretty for those with lighter colored eyes because you would see the design of the circle lens.

They are comfortable on the eyes but I do have a problem with it's wear after a couple of hours. They make my eyes dry after 4 hours unlike other lenses which I can wear for a really long time without any discomfort. I need to constantly bring re-wetting drops wherever I go when I wear these so I don't get any discomfort.

Comfort: ♥♥♥/5

This is my final thoughts on the Ring's Black circle lens: The design is cool but since it only has one color it doesn't have any contrast with my naturally dark eyes so you can't appreciate the design itself unless you have a lighter colored eyes. I don't like it as a long wearing contact lens since it gets dry on my eyes pretty easily.

3CE 2015's Lip Color Palette # Pink Trophy Review

3 Concept Eyes (3CE) by Stylenanda has not yet failed me in any of their products that I've received from bntNews or have personally bought. They remain to be one of my favorite Korean cosmetic brand because of their amazing quality products.

I am very happy to receive in my October BNT Beauty Box the 3CE 2015's Lip Color Palette #Pink Trophy which features 3CE's 4 best pink to raspberry lip colors curated by Stylenanda that will take you through all seasons. Glass type and Original Lip Color formula lippies are placed in one palette for the purpose of gradiations.

The packaging of this palette are the same as most of their products - classy and chic matte black with the 3CE logo in white. The palette is almost the same size as my palm and each lip color is of a generous amount. The first thing I noticed about the palette when I took it out of the box is that it rattles, meaning one of the pans inside is loose. I have used the palette and played around with it a couple of times but I have no issue with any of the pans falling out of the palette but I have to address the fact that the pans do move around slightly inside. If you plan to take each pan out and put it in your own customized lip palette then the pans would be easy to take out but I honestly get somewhat worried and annoyed about the sound it makes. I suggest that the company should either make their pans magnetic or they can glue the pans to the packaging that way it doesn't move around. This is a minor problem but I think it needs to be put out there.

These lippies are very pretty and they are creamy and highly pigmented. They have natural 10% squalene essence extracted from olives to helps moisturize the lips, shea butter and mango butter that creates a moisture layer for a long lasting effect. It also has an Emollient Technology which allows the lip color to melt and softly adhere to the lips for a definitive color expression at skin temperature of around 27C or 80.6F.

The shades are as follows, #405 Glass Pink, #608 Hala #408 Chu Chu and #807 Hypnotic.

I noticed that the last shade #807 Hypnotic shares the same name as the Dangerous Matte Lip Color I have so I swatched it side by side with the Hypnotic that was in the palette. They are the same shade but the finish is very different. All the lip colors in the palette has a satin to slightly glossy finish whereas the #807 Hypnotic that I previously have has a true matte finish.

#405 Glass Pink, #608 Hala #408 Chu Chu and #807 Hypnotic

#405 Glass Pink

#405 Glass Pink is a Glass type lip color so it is meant to be sheer and glossy. It has a balmy texture and adds slight color to the lips that would be great if you're on the go since you can just apply this with a finger and won't need to worry about precise application. I personally would use this shade to top off other shade as you do with a gloss product. I'm not a huge fan of sheer and gloss lippies so out of the four shades this is the one I like the least but it's a personal preference.

#608 Hala

This is a milky pink shade. It actually reminds me of a muted Barbie pink color. This has more pigmentation and is definitely a step up from the first shade.

#408 Chu Chu

Chu Chu is described as a neon pink that is such a pretty spring and summer color. It is really pigmented and application was easy but you do need to use a lip brush and be a bit more precise with this since it's a darker and brighter shade.

#807 Hypnotic

It is a deep, raspberry pink shade that is a favorite all year round. It is bright enough for spring and summer and deep for fall and winter. Like with #408 Chu Chu, you do need a lip brush with this as well and a precise application.

Below is a photo using all 4 of the lip shades.

I applied Hypnotic on the outer portion of my lips, Chu Chu and Hala towards the inner portion and topped it with Glass Pink. on the center.

With all four shades together they form one cohesive lip color. There's so much one can do with this palette. You can mix and match shades or use them on their own. It is such a pretty palette but I personally like applying my lip shades straight from the tube. I don't like the hassle of bringing around and being too precise with a lip brush. I would personally use this palette for clients whenever I do freelance makeup but I just don't see myself using this as often as I do my individual lipsticks.

Overall it is a great product. All the shades in the palette has the same long lasting wear as of their other lip products. I have no complaints and I'm greatly pleased with the shade selection. The 3CE 2015 Lip Color Palette in #Pink Trophy retails for $36 on their website (link here). If you are curious as to where to get 3CE products, they are available online on Stylenanda and Urban Outfitters,

I have several of their lip colors and I have swatched all the ones I have in a previous post (3CE Lip Color Swatches and 3CE Dangerous Matte #807 Hypnotic) if you are curious.
