Remington Curling Wand Review & Tutorial

Hello lovely ladies! I got a lot of requests for a review and tutorial of the Remington T-Studio Ceramic  Pearl Professional Curling Wand that I featured in my recent haul. I want to post this up before Valentine's so that those who requested me on how to use this will be able to use their own curling wands for VDay. :) Before I go to the tutorial I'll first do a review on this item.

According to the manufacturer description, the Remington Curling Wand is a ceramic tong that is infused with real pearl for smooth salon finish. It has a nice pink 1/2-1 inch pink barrel and comes with a heat protective glove. This product heats up fast in 20-30 seconds with the temperature running until 410° F. It also has a temperature lock system wherein it stays on the heat temperature you have selected after 10 seconds or if you hold the (-) button for 2 seconds. To unlock, hold the (-) button for another 2 seconds. It also has a 60 minute auto shutoff if ever you have forgotten to turn it off and unplug after use.

I find the Remington Curling Wand a bit tricky to use on the first try but you will eventually get the hang of it. On my first try I immediately had my fingers burned since the barrel is so smooth and my hair immediately slips off and I don't know how to hold my hair. I had to result to using the heat protective glove that it comes with. After awhile I was accustomed on how to curl my hair with the wand without touching the barrel so I needn't use the glove anymore. I love how this thing heats up fast so in times where I forget to turn it on while prepping my hair it still would be ready for use in less than a minute it was turned on. The temperature lock is also very convenient so that the temperature for the wand would remain as is while in use.

The wand also has a 30-day money back offer if you're unsatisfied with it and a 4 year limited warranty so don't throw away the box and the receipt! I, however, don't find myself wanting to return this because this is just a wonderful product. You could do defined and tight curls or loose and nice waves with it.

Let me show you how to use this curling wand. I have finally taken my time and do video tutorial for you my dear readers since I think it would be quite hard to take photos and really see how it is done. I'm still not comfortable in speaking in front of the camera so I opted to put captions instead. You might notice that I'm glancing at the sides because on the left is the mirror and on the right is the viewfinder of the camera. Next time (if there will ever be a next time), I'll do better. :)

I've set the heat temperature of the wand at 302° since I'm afraid that a higher temperature would fry my hair. At 302°, you can hold the hair for 10-15 seconds but if you use a higher temperature, lessen the time that you hold the hair. In the video I also forgot to run my hair at the back when I was filming so there was a flat part at the back of my head. If you want loose waves than in the video simply run your fingers throughout the hair.

Oh, I'm kinda embarrassed by this, but you could see my flabby arms. I am in no way skinny. :(

Constructive criticisms on my first beauty video is highly appreciated. Any questions, please comment down below.

Much love,

PS: I have a Canon Rebel T3i that records in HD but sadly, my SD card is a Class 4 SDHC which, in no way can record a widescreen HD video so I have to settle for a 640x30 video recording. What sucks even more is that even if I have Adobe Premiere Pro I don't know how to use it and made use of the Windows Movie Maker instead. Until I get a Class 10 SD card, there will be no videos (well, I'm not really into doing YT videos but maybe in the future) :) I still hope you liked this one.

    1. As far as I know ghd doesn't have a curling wand in their line but they do have hair straighteners that have a rounded edge so that you could make nice curls with a flat iron. I don't own any ghd too so I don't know how it performs personally (though I read a lot of good reviews on them). You could do the nice curls and waves with flat irons but it will not be as defined or as tight as the curling wands/irons do.

I hope this answers your question. :)

    2. oh and the slimmer thee barrel the tighter the curls and the bigger the barrel the bigger and looser the curls.

  5. Pretty cool curling wand I've been thinking about picking one up your really brave not using the glove! lol I actually just burned my fingers the other day on my flat iron so I'm sure if I had this I would look like a burn victim ;) You did really great in the YT video and your arms are not flabby, you look great! I barely show my face on my own blog so I think its really brave of you to do a YT video, very very cool!

  26. This was a really great review and tutorial for us ladies who are still trying to get the swing of the wand! I am very good at doing curls with flat irons and spiral curlers but this wand is really taking some getting used to for me. I love the results of the wand after I see others use it for their curls, but when I experimented with it for the first time; I truly had a hard time. I have the Jibere Nano Silver wand and the glove that it came with which claims to be “heat proof” was very disappointing. I constantly burned my fingers throughout the whole process. Perhaps I should try a different product instead. Now that I’ve seen your tutorial, I definitely feel more confident about how to go about it using your technique. My curls turned out decent the first time but nowhere near like yours. That is the look I’m going for. So I just wanted to say thanks for the tutorial and let you know that I will be checking out more from you. Now that I see this blog so I’m most definately going to follow your blog now. Thanks again, take care!
