Urban Decay Naked2 Review

Didn't I say that my recent New Year Haul would satiate my urge to shop for the month? Totally not true!

Just the next day after I wrote my post, I woke up to a Facebook notification tagging me to one of the massive makeup haul photo I've ever seen by my dearest cousin, Rina (MakeMeUpPink), who lives in Australia. So apparently she shops online and those that can't be shipped internationally she ships them over to our other cousin in Connecticut and then she ships them to her. She went into a crazy makeup shopping spree and ordered a lot of things over the holidays and she snapped a photo of it and tagged me. I was amazed by the amount of makeup she got and I was so jealous when my eye caught the NAKED2 palette in her haul. After her babbling about how great it is and how she made our other cousin give in and order it and after hours upon hours of pondering whether I should order it online too, I finally caved in. So I went to the Sephora website and immediately added it to my cart before I could change my mind. And a few days later I got it! The NAKED2 is finally in my hands! Yay! :)

I'd say this outright and some would probably curse me for saying this, but I'm honestly more in love with NAKED than with NAKED2.

Well, let's get to swatches first. Below you could see the swatches of the shadows in the NAKED2 palette.

The Naked2 palette is cooler toned compared to the Naked palette which have warmer shades of neutrals. This palette also boasts of five new shades from UD which are Bootycall, Tease, Snakebite, Pistol and Busted.

Most people have been asking, "Is it really necessary for me to get Naked2 if I have the original Naked palette?" Well, my answer for that is simple. It depends on your personal preference. I prefer using cooler shades of neutrals if I have a tan and the warmer shades against my natural skin color. I received the Naked2 palette around the time where my tan from vacation is already fading back to its natural tone and that I'm looking for warmer shades to wear thus my preference to the original Naked palette.

Don't get me wrong, the Naked2 is really a great palette but there are just some things I would like to point out. First, the shade Half Baked is an obvious repeat from the original palette. C'mon, Half Baked is a wonderful eyeshadow but I think Urban Decay could do better than repeating it in Naked2. Another thing is, as much as I love the original Naked palette with all the wonderful shadows, I realized upon receiving the Naked2 that there are some shadows I want to exchange with the palettes. I'd very much want Sidecar and Sin from the original to be transferred into the Naked2 and from the Naked2 I'd like Chopper and Snakebite to go into the Naked palette. Though I love shimmery and frosty lids, I was also expecting more matte shadows from the Naked2 and they only came up with three: Foxy, Tease and Blackout. Tease is a wonderful blending/transition color and I think it is one of the best shades in the Naked2. For this palette, my favorite shadows would be Snakebite, Suspect and Tease which I mostly use together.

Urban Decay eyeshadows is one of the most pigmented and buttery shadows I've ever encountered, however, upon getting the NAKED2, I was a bit disappointed in one particular shade - Foxy. Foxy applies a little bit sheer than I would like. When picked up by the finger or by the brush it shows nice pigmentation but upon application it's too light and sheer to show up on my skin tone. Mind you, I'm not that light in complexion. I'm more of warm medium in skin tone and for this shade not to show up is kind of a miss for me. Other shadows in this palette are absolutely amazing - pigmentation and application-wise.

The packaging for this palette is art-school inspired and it is so reminiscent of tin pencil cases I used to own as a child. The case is much sturdy than the original palette's but I still don't know how I feel about it. If there's one thing that I really love about this palette and it's packaging it would be the mirror inside which is wider compared to the other palette and take up the whole inner lid space. I also have to point out that along with this palette is a sample size of the Lip Junkie Lip Gloss in Naked as opposed to the UD Primer Potion of the original Naked palette. This is kind of an interesting mix since this gloss would go with any look you would create with the shadows but I would still prefer the UDPP since that would make the shadows stay longer without creasing and become more vibrant.

This particular palette is definitely not a miss but I wouldn't say it's a great hit for me either.  I am really glad that I picked up both palettes since both would cater to my weird preferences. I could already even picture myself using this palette more often in the summer with my tanned skin.

You are Beautiful

I was by Eden Cafe the other day and I came by an article entitled, Just What Is Beauty Anyhow? The author started off by saying how twisted the standard of beautiful is by the media. And then he goes on by saying how people thinks they need to change in order to be attain that standard. And he's absolutely right.

We always scrutinize ourselves and compare ourselves to others. We always complain that we are not this and that while others are.Someone who might've just tumbled into this blog post might think, "Why is this girl saying she doesn't need to change how she looks when she clearly packs on makeup on her face to make her look decent"? Well,  I strongly believe that we don't need to change our appearance in order to please anyone.  If we must change something in our body it must be for our sake and not for anyone else.

Yes, for me, makeup is an essential whenever I leave the house or even when I'm receiving guests. It's not because I'm not comfortable with my skin and how I look but because makeup enhances how I look. Even with just a minimal amount of makeup my confidence skyrockets and that makes me feel better. I don't put on makeup so people will nod and tell me I'm beautiful. I put makeup on in order to help me feel good about myself. When I was in high school and college my friends used to ask me why I go on diets. They would ask if I was trying to impress someone. No, I want to lose weight because I want to be healthy. That was always my answer.

Beauty doesn't have any qualifications or measurements. I believe in the inner beauty that a person have. Remember Christina Aguilera's song Beautiful? You are beautiful, in every single way... words can't bring you down. The author of the article wrote a quirky ending to his post, "Look in the mirror today, Look at yourself. I bet you're a good person. I bet you're really attractive. If you don't think so, I bet you my toybox, that someone out there thinks you are."

A little something before I end my post, Eden Fantasys is having a 25% off sale on lingerie and club wear items. If you need a little me time and a little boosting of your womanly beauty and confidence or trying to spice up your relationship you can check out the sale here (this ends January 31, 2012). They also have Valentine themed lingerie if you're looking for those found here and a Valentine gift central here. A friendly reminder to my readers who are minors, Eden Fantasys is an adult shop so take heed.

Always remember that you are beautiful. Don't compare yourself to others and be envious of them for they have their own beauty too.

Urban Decay Primer Potion Review: Original & Eden

Everyone loves Urban Decay Primer Potion and I bet there are tons of reviews on this product but I can't resist writing my own review.

I have been hearing about this product for so long before I actually got it. What took me so long to have it? I lived in the Philippines and it's kinda hard to access international makeup brands. There are lots of local online stores that sells international makeup products but they are usually not the real thing or they jack up the price too high. When I first arrived in the US and went on my first shopping trip at Sephora, I immediately picked this up.

During the time of my purchase, Urban Decay had just changed the packaging for the primer potion. I have been wanting to have the potion bottle after watching thousands of beauty videos in YT featuring it but alas, no original packaging and the original primer potion was sold out too! I ended up buying the UDPP in Eden. I got my second primer potion with my Naked Palette and finally I have the original formula and the bottle too.

I have never tried other eyeshadow primers before Eden. Upon my first try on this product, I was so happy that my shadows became more vibrant. I went ahead and gave it a 12-hour test run just to see if my eye makeup would last. It did. Actually my makeup stayed on really well! However, I encountered problems as I continued to use the product. I started to notice that my eyeshadows crease at around 8 hours. I went ahead and watched reviews on the product again and many said that this usually happens if you put too much of the  product. Since it is a squeeze tube, a small dot of product is a lot already. I tried lessening the amount of product that I put but I keep  on encountering the same problem. I don't like wasting makeup especially if it's an expensive one so I still do use this primer although I'm not very fond of it.

The original UDPP in the original bottle, though only a sample size, seem to be quite the opposite of Eden. While Eden dries a natural matte shade that is at least two shades lighter than my skin, the original dries invisibly. It also seemed to work better than Eden. I have no idea how different the formula and ingredients are between the primers but it seems like the cult favorite, the Original Urban Decay Primer Potion is really the best primer. I also believe that the doe foot applicator that the original packaging has helps a lot - makes sure that you don't put too much on.

I am planning to purchase UDPP in Greed and Sin too just to see if they work as well as the original one or if it's a miss like the Eden.

What's your take on the UDPP?

Valentine's Look 1: Casual Date

It's one of those occasions again that gives every girl an excuse to put on makeup and be pretty whether they have someone or not. Like the holidays which I did some makeup looks for you ladies, I thought I'd do the same with Valentine's too. There will be three looks and this is the first one: a soft and cute look that is perfect for a daytime and casual date. This is also great for the ladies who are in school and needs a toned down look.

I have gotten requests to do looks using this e.l.f. 144 Eyeshadow Palette so I'll be using this for the look, of course feel free to use whatever eyeshadows you have. :)

Revlon Photoready Foundation in Shell & Urban Decay Tinted Moisturizer in Bulletproof - mixed together and applied using a stippling brush (Sigmax F80)
Maybelline Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles in Medium
NYX Brown Eyeshadow - contour cheeks, temples, nose and jaw (I used my Sigmax F84)
NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Boho Chic - apply using your fingers or brush (I used my Sigmax 82) on the apples of the cheeks and blend out
MAC MSF in Blonde - highlight the bridge of the nose, tops of the cheeks, Cupid's bow and forehead

Wet n Wild Brow Kit

MAC Painterly Paint Pot - prime the eyes
Eyeshadow 1 - using a flat shader brush, place the color all over the lid, not past the crease
Eyeshadow 2 - as a transition shade,  using a fluffy blending brush, blend it into the crease and a little above it, blending out the pink eyeshadow too
Eyeshadow 3 - using another flat shader brush or the other side of the brush you previously used, place the color in the outer V and right at the crease, blend again with a fluffy brush
Eyeshadow 4 - highlight the brow bone and the inner corner of the eyes
Eyeshadow 5 - with a smudge brush, place this shadow in the lower lash line
Milani Liquif'eye Black Liner - line the upper waterline
Maybelline Line Stiletto in Blackest Black - line the upper lash line, you may wing it out as you like
Maybelline One by One Mascara Waterproof & L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Hydrofuge

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Milan - apply and blend out with your finger
Stila Lip Glaze in Fantasy

Tips: For a day time or casual date, always have soft eyes and glowy cheeks so that it looks natural and sweet. It is best to use lip and cheek tints or cream blushes to achieve the look. If you're using a lipstick, blend it out with your finger so that the color would not be too bold and gives out a nice stain. Blending the lipstick out is also a great way for the product not to stick and emphasize lip imperfections. Last but not the least, always smile. :)

What's in my Unii Palette?

Two months ago I bought myself a Unii Palette so that I would be able to customize a travel palette without bringing too many things. I ordered the turquoise color because it looked really nice, plus I love the color blue. I'm dying to get all Unii Palette colors too.

Before I even bought this palette I have already thought of putting my favorite Wet n Wild Color Icon Trios. I have Walking on Eggshells and Silent Treatment on this palette. One of my favorite go-to eye makeup is the Silent Treatment Crease color all over my lid and blended out by the Crease color of Walking on Eggshells. I like to create makeup looks by mixing the two palettes so I decided to just put them into one palette instead of picking up one trio then the other. Since this customized palette looks neutral I also depotted my Wet n Wild Color Icon Palette in Vanity and place them together with the trios.

I have my favorite brow bone highlight shadow which is Nichido in Eggshell (the round pan). I bought this eyeshadow from the Philippines and I forgot to purchase a backup when I left. For months, I have stopped using thist particular shadow because I haven't found a perfect highlight shade that would replace it. It is the perfect highlight, not too shimmery but not matte either. It's not too white or cream colored. It looks really natural when used as a brow bone highlight. I still haven't found a replacement for this one but I really hope I do soon. I do use the Wet n Wild matte cream-colored shadow from the Vanity palette (the shadow beside Eggshell) often for highlight.

To complete this palette I placed a Wet n Wild blush, Pearlescent Pink, a dupe for NARS Orgasm. When I put together this palette I had a hard time depotting my eyeshadows so some of the shadows in the pans were cracked. One pan from the Vanity palette is even missing because I shattered the whole thing and I ended up just throwing it out.

The back of my Unii Palette has the name of my boyfriend. It's my way of saying thank you for all the support and understanding he has given me when it comes to all my endeavors especially with my love of makeup.

For US residents, you can purchase the palette here and for UK residents, here.

Do you have a Unii Palette too? Let me know what's inside your palette and leave a link down below. I need more ideas on what to place inside my palette since I'm planning to buy another one again.

A Revelation

It's been a while since I have my face plastered in my blog with a makeup look and I apologize. I do promise to be posting makeup looks by the next month. There's so much going on in my life lately: preparing for my board exam and family problems that has kept me from doing makeup posts. I have, however, been writing a lot of reviews and hauls. You must be wondering, how come even with all the stress I am experiencing right now I still have a lot of blog posts up? Well, I find that writing in this blog of mine during my most troubled times keeps me from over thinking things.

Let me reveal something to you, my dear readers. A week ago my dad was hospitalized and was diagnose with Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS). An autoimmune neuromuscular disease wherein the body attacks itself with its major sign and symptom as ascending paresthesias (numbness) and pain. My whole world turned upside down immediately. My dad is back in the Philippines whilst I have recently moved to the U.S. with my mom. He is basically alone in the hospital with a few other relatives and friends frequently checking up on him. GBS, if not treated immediately and if the condition worsens, will lead to either paralysis or God forbid, death.

Since I was little it has always been me, my dad and my grandma together. When I was in high school and we moved houses, it has been the two of us. Living in Jersey since April of 2011 has been the longest time I've been without my dad and it sucks because I dearly miss him. Imagine just how devastated I was when I learned about his condition. I am a daughter and a nurse who can't even take care of her own father since I'm miles away. For at least 24 hours since I heard the news and the diagnosis I went into depression. I was alternating between sleep and crying. I look so horrible and a mess. People who received such news as I did would probably ask God why this is happening. I never questioned Him.

I'm a Catholic but I must admit that I'm not too religious although since December I haven't missed a Sunday mass. I guess it has been so long since I have been continuously present at mass and professing my faith that I am being tested now. And I must say that my faith in God has not wavered. Through tough times I can only turn to Him. Staying positive, praying and lifting everything up to Him is all I can do.

Yesterday, I called my dad and he said that he is feeling better. In fact, the doctors are discharging him from the hospital. For the past week he has been undergoing treatment for his condition to prevent the numbness from ascending. He reports still feeling numb on his hands and feet but he is feeling stronger by the moment. He still has to go through continuous, regular check up and physical rehabilitation so he would completely recovery.

Today, I went to church again. This time thanking the Lord for his gift to me. I believe that it's not only the treatment that's working but the prayers that my friends and the rest of our family is offering. I am extremely grateful to Him for being there with my dad and for hearing my, our prayers.

Never lose faith, never lose hope. If you think you're having a tough time, think about how lucky you are and that other people may be having a tougher time than you do. And if you think that it is impossible to go on, pray and lift all your worries to Him for He hears even the silent cries of our hearts.

Shop, Learn and Earn with EdenFantasys

Looking for a website where you can shop, read some interesting articles and earn money at the same time? Well, let me introduce to you a new discovery of mine: EdenFantasys. Before you click on that link and be surprised (especially that some readers of mine may be minors), let me just give you an overview to that site. EdenFantasys is a one-stop, online shop for all things womanly and adult.

Some of you might think, "what the hell is Joanne doing directing me to such a lewd online shop?" Simple. As a woman, we need to be open minded and well rounded. Not in the sense that we should experiment and buy all those toys advertised in the shop (you're welcome if you want to) but at least be familiar with these things so as not to be ignorant. See, one of the main reason that I'm introducing this site to all of you is that they also carry beauty products like bath & body, skin care and makeup so it is not only limited to adult toys and sexy lingerie. They also have gorgeous dresses that is really very feminine and sexy. Checking out this shop doesn't mean you're a pervert of any sort.

What's more is that this site have their own community which is the Eden Community where you can join in and talk about a lot of different things like relationships, health and sex. Perhaps my favorite part of the community is the Eden Cafe Blog wherein there are really informative and controversial articles. The health and body image category is particularly captivating for their stories on body image and how loving yourself and your body is important. They also have the Eden Cooks Club where they discuss and share recipes, tips and tricks in the kitchen!

Probably the most exciting thing about EdenFantasys is that they have programs in which you can join and get to review products for free or receive a gift card for writing a blog post. You can purchase items like bubble baths, candles, moisturizers or anything available in their shop. You can even earn money from affiliate advertising of banners in your blog!

Ready to be part of the Eden Community or be a sponsored blogger? If you're 18 years and above, check out this page, EdenLovesBloggers for more information about the site and their programs.

Collective Haul: Sephora, MAC, Drugstore, Sigma & CherryCulture

Yay to another haul in such a short time! I told myself in my New Year Haul that I wasn't going to buy anything else but I ended up buying a lot online.

First up is from Sephora, which is perhaps the currently most sought after palette from Urban Decay which is the Naked2. Along with the palette are a few samples, a Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer, a Too Faced Shadow insurance primer and three scents: Givenchy Play For Her, Viva La Juicy and Tom Ford Violet Blonde.

Next buy is from MAC. I was watching the haul of Ingrid (missglamorazzi) and Allison (amarixe) on MAC and Lush and Ingrid was showing a Mineralize Skinfinish that she just bought and was wearing which was MSF Blonde. I had just actually bought the MSF Soft & Gentle but even if I adore that product as a highlight I kinda wanted something that would double up as a blush. I ended up ordering two products from MAC: the MSF Blonde and a lipstick in the shade Brave. I have been wanting to get another MAC lipstick since the first and only one I've ever bought from them was a miss (Creme d'Nude) for me. I'm also trying to build up a MAC collection of lipsticks since I really love their bullet so this would be a start.

From the drugstore, I went and got the Revlon ColorStay Foundation for Normal to Dry Skin in 240 Medium Beige and one of the new Maybelline Color Tattoo. I got the shade Bad to the Bronze.

I am so in love with Sigma ever since I got my Mrs. Bunny and Sigmax face brushes and I kept wanting to buy more. I went ahead and ordered the Sigma Dry & Shape and the Mr.Bunny Travel Kit. I was so happy when I got the Mr.Bunny brushes - my Mrs. Bunny brushes now have a mister. :)

I was on the last stage of my online shopping spree and I was browsing the NYX website because there were so many products that I have been wanting to pick up but have never gotten around to and I suddenly remembered that the online store CherryCulture carries NYX and other cosmetic brands as well. I went to CherryCulture and they were having a sale on select NYX items and so, instead of ordering at NYX I ordered a bunch of items from CC. I got two cream blushes: Boho Chic and Tickled, two soft matte lip creams: Tokyo and Milan,  a round lipstick in Stella, a round lip gloss in Mauve, a jumbo pencil in Milk, a Black skinny marker, and a single eyeshadow in Rootbeer (which is my all-time favorite brow powder along with NYX Greyish Brown). CC was also having a sale on select Milani products so I also purchased a Liquif'eye Liner Pencil in Black to back up my current eyeliner.

That's it for my makeup haul! I'm totally broke now but makeup still makes me happy. :) Stay tuned for review of the products - tell me what you want to see a review on first! :)

MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Soft and Gentle Review

I've been wanting to get this particular product from MAC ever since I first bought my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. With the natural as my everyday powder that can provide sheer cover that I sometimes use alone or as a setting powder, I wanted to try the Skinfinish that acts as a highlight. I'm almost hitting pan on the browbone eyeshadow of the Wet n Wild Trio, Walking on Eggshells which I've been using as an everyday face highlighter so I guess it's time to invest on a new one. I've mentioned buying this product in my recent haul.

This SF retails for $28 and though it's a bit pricey but this 10 gram product will go a really long way when you use this as a highlighter. I've been using my MSF Natural almost everyday for 8 months now and it still hasn't even reached pan.

Soft and Gentle is peach with a hint of pink with gold shimmers in it. It is so pretty that it gives you such a wonderful, healthy glow. The texture is smooth and it is very pigmented. Very little goes a long way with this particular product because it's very shimmery so be wary.

Before writing this review I actually read and watched some reviews on this product and most said that they didn't like this purely because of the shimmer. You can always work with the shimmer and not go overboard when using it. I love to use my Sigma F40 Bunny brush to apply this. I think this is perfect for a healthy glowing look especially that it is winter now and I really like how it looks on me. I must admit that there are a lot of drugstore dupes for this one but I like having this particular product. I'm not sure if I would repurchase this though as this would probably last me for a really long time and I also like trying other products so I might end up buying other highlighters. I'm already eyeing some products. :)

Too Faced Shadow Insurance Candlelight Review

I got this sample size tube of the Too Faced Shadow Insurance Candlelight Softly Illuminating Eye Shadow Primer (whew that was a mouthful!) in my complimentary sample bag in my Sephora Haul. I've been playing around with it and I am ready to give my honest review.

Five stars right off the bat. I really love this primer. This product is off-white in color with fine gold shimmers that gives a nice, illuminating glow. Because of this, you could use this product as a highlighter as well. As a primer, this guarantees that the shadows you put over it doesn't crease and smudge as well as make the eyeshadows appear vibrant. I got it on for 12 hours and still my eye makeup looked the same as I put it on in the morning. Also, for someone who really loves shimmery eyelids rather than just plain matte like me, this gives even my matte shadows a frosty look.

Once I finish this sampler of mine I would go ahead and purchase the full size of this one. This is how much I  really love this primer. :)) Yay for shimmery, glowing looks!

Until next time,

Sigmax HD Face Brushes Review

I have been crazy with Sigma Brushes lately after I received the Bunny brushes and I ordered the infamous Sigmax HD brushes.

I was supposedly going to order the Synthetic Kabuki Kit which consists of four brushes, the F80 Flat Kabuki, F82 Round Kabuki, F84 Angle Kabuki and F86 Tapered Kabuki at the price of $56 however, after much thought and consideration, I didn't order the kit. I couldn't really find the use of the F86 so I instead ordered the Sigmax Duo of the F82 and F84 in Matte Handles on sale for $24 and added the F80 for $16, which I think was great. As you can see in the photo, the F80 has a glossy handle in comparison to the F82 and F84 duo which is matte. These brushes are made of synthetic fibers and are designed to deliver a flawless application of makeup, may it be cream, liquid, powder and mineral products.

These brushes are of amazingly great quality. They are short and dense and has a nice weight to them that it is so easy to use them to apply makeup. I've washed the brushes a couple of times and I have seen no fault in them. There has been no bleeding and shedding. Most beauty bloggers have complained about the longer time to dry these brushes due to the thickness of the fibers. I, however, believe that this is not true. The brushes dried after around 6-8 hours of drying and I'm not doing anything to hasten their drying time.

I use the F80 Flat Kabuki in applying liquid foundation. All I do is stipple the foundation all over my face and once I get all of the product in my face, I buff and blend them in a circular motion. For the F82 which is the Round Kabuki, I use it to blend my concealer and it does that wonderfully. I use the F84, the Angled Kabuki to apply bronzer and contour my face.

Makeup application particularly foundation application has never been fast, easy and flawless looking!

My Favorite Christmas Gifts

I really wasn't expecting any gifts this Christmas because my mom told me that my vacation trip to St. Thomas was already her Christmas gift to me so it was quite funny when she asked me to wrap my own gift. I had to stop myself from peeking inside the Anne Klein box when I was wrapping it. Obviously it was a watch but I didn't know what. Mom is so obvious. She always gives me a watch as a gift but I adore all the watches she gives me. When I opened my gift on Christmas day I was in awe when I saw this beautiful rose gold charmed watch. It's really so beautiful.

Another gift that took me quite by surprise was from my brother. My brother and his Christmas pranks were hilarious and he did one me too with this gift. For Christmas, he pranked mom by giving her a not-so-empty box of iPad2. Mom was so ecstatic while opening it and she was so surprised when she opened it because it was empty save for the iPad instruction manual and... a white, leather band, Micheal Kors watch. When he gave me my gift I was expecting something bigger because the box was bigger than the case for the watch that mom gave me. When I opened the box there was a very small Bloomingdales box and inside it was the necklace. He bought me a Kate Spade, gold, bejeweled bow tie necklace.

Their gifts are so lovely and it really made me happy. They both knew my taste. I received a few other gifts for Christmas but these are my favorites. I wish I have gotten more makeup for Christmas but I didn't. Oh well, I have enough makeup to last me a lifetime so I shouldn't complain. I'm really thankful for all the things I received and all the wonderful blessings.

What are your favorite Christmas gifts? :)

New Year Haul!

Hello lovelies! How was your holidays? I gained a few pounds again from all the holiday feasts. I'm now on a diet mode to get rid of all my excess body fat. Time to slim down and get ready for the summer season... oops! We're only halfway through winter! LOL. Oh well, I guess I'm starting early. Anyway, this is not the point of my blog post. I finally received yesterday a letter from New York state allowing me to take my NCLEX exam. I scheduled my exam for February 6. Before going on a month-long serious review session for the board exam I decided to  go and indulge myself a little bit on a shopping escapade with my Christmas money.

I first ventured to Newport Centre Mall here in Jersey City hoping to score some lovely things on sale and I was not disappointed. Forever21 was having a sale so I went in and grabbed some cold weather accessories/necessities. It was so damn cold outside at 19 degrees and I was freezing. The weather will get colder in a few weeks and I better buy more winter stuff. I tried on this brown knitted hat and it looked so cute on me against my light, ash brown hair. This purple knitted beret also looked adorable so I picked it up too. Perhaps my favorite buy was the white infinity scarf with the silver threads. It was so warm, comfy and chic.

Moving on, I went to Bath and Body Works next where they were having an amazing 50% off sale on everything. It was good until supply lasts! Holiday pocket-bacs were only $0.50c. The regular PocketBacs are 5 for $5. The signature body mists are only $5 too. I went ahead and bought the Paris Amour body mist, 2 anti bacterial foaming soap (Twilight Woods and Passionfruit Colada), 5 regular PocketBacs (2 Aqua Blossom, Japanese Cherry Blossom, Caribbean Escape and Island Margarita), 2 holiday PocketBacs (Pink Sugar Plum and Berry) and PocketBac Holders. I just love BBW! I like having these antibacterial hand gel with me all the time. It's so handy and they smell really good too! I was sad because my favorite, Peach Bellini is not being sold anymore. I hope they return with it in the summer.

I went around the mall and browsed through the stores but I really didn't have anything that I wanted to buy. I was bummed to find out that the mall didn't have Urban Outfitters. I wanted to go and buy some makeup that are not carried by Sephora and Urban Outfitters is the only store I know that carries NYX, e.l.f. and Jemma Kidd products. I have never been to Ulta here in Jersey and it's so far away that I have to settle for the places that are easier to access. I went inside Sephora in Newport Mall but I thought that I might as well head to New York and go to Urban Outfitters and visit Sephora at Times Square.

When I went inside Urban Outfitters I was sad to see that they don't have much left of the makeup that I wanted. The NYX Matte Lip Creams were no longer there and the e.l.f. shadows that I wanted were sold out as well. I ended up buying the NYX Glitter Cream Palette in Bronze Goddess and a purple glitter liner.

Not satisfied with that purchase I went to Sephora and crossed my fingers that Naked2 would be available in store and wouldn't be sold out. Alas, no Naked2. The lady said that they would have it around January 20 something. She wasn't sure of the exact date but she said that it would be available around that time. I really wanted to have a good look at the palette and swatch it before I buy it in the store or online. My mom gave me this Sephora gift card worth $30 which I'm saving for the Naked2. It sucks that I would have to add $20  but I'm sure it would be worth it if I do purchase it. Oh, the gift card came with a compact mirror.

And because I was bummed with my Urban Outfitters and non-existent Sephora purchase I headed to MAC where I completely went broke. I only got two things from MAC but the makeup at MAC is so damn expensive. I bought a Painterly Paint Pot and Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle. I've been wanting to get these two items for quite awhile now and I debated for the longest time in the store whether I should get one or the other or both. In the end I bought both and because I'm broke I headed home. I totally went more than my budget for makeup products but it was worth it. I'm happy with all my purchases and I think this will satiate my craving to shop for makeup for the whole month while I'm busy studying.
