For My Hubby

It was already very late last night and my boyfriend and I were on BBM and we were talking about my blog and my photos and he suddenly asked me to do a makeup look that is especially dedicated and done for him. It was crazy because it was almost midnight and he's asking me to put on makeup for him. After some thought I decided to give it a shot. When it comes to my boyfriend it seems like I can't really deny him of his little pleasures especially that we are in a long distance relationship.

When he asked me to do a look especially for him I immediately thought of using the Wet n Wild Color Icon Lust palette because I bought it and opened it but haven't got to try it out. I really love how this particular look came out despite my struggle with the dim light of my room at 12AM and only three makeup brushes to aide me since all my brushes were wet due to cleaning. I have one face brush, and 2 eye brushes, well, that's all you'll ever need for a quick makeup look.

This look is for my beloved boyfriend, Eric John Dela Cruz. Thank you for your continuous support and love. I could go on and on writing about all the things I should thank you for and all the things I love about you and why I simply love you but you already know how I feel. This one is especially for you, my gift for you on winning the photography contest and my late Christmas gift. I love you. <3

And though this is for my beloved boyfriend this is still a makeup post so here's a list of all the products I've used for this look. This look would also be great for a New Year's Eve party! :)

Oh and for those curious about our love story you could go and visit Crazed Lovers. I also put up a link to my boyfie's tumblr on his name above.

I have always believed that love can give a person a really fantastic glow. Stay in love ladies. ;)

e.l.f. 144 Piece Ultimate Eyeshadow Palette - Limited Edition

Hello lovelies! How was everyone's Christmas? I hope you all enjoyed it and received fabulous gifts!

I am here today to give a review on the e.l.f. 144 Piece Ultimate Eyeshadow Palette that I got as a gift from my godsister. I was happy when I got this because I was supposed to get one for myself because I've been seeing this on some YT gurus and really wanted to try this out. I saved some cash when I got this.

Let's get on to the review!

The packaging is so simple and looks and feels a bit cheap, and it is cheap. It retails for $30, but I believe it is on sale for $15 (it is currently out of stock in e.l.f.'s website) and has 144, decent-sized eyeshadows. It is the perfect gift for those who are just starting to try on makeup and those who are just building their collection. For it is price, the whole thing is really pretty good. However, not all of the 144 shadows are impressive. Some are highly pigmented than others, some didn't stay true to their color in the pan, some are buttery soft while others are chalky. For the most part, I am happy with the palette. It has a wide variety of colors that I can play and experiment with. I couldn't really say much about this particular product because as I said earlier, for it's price, it is pretty good quality. With a nice base or primer, those that are not really pigmented can give a wash of color and you can still build it up.

Revlon Lip Butter Review and Swatches Take 2

Two weeks ago I made a review on the Revlon Lip Butter in the shade Cherry Tart that I purchased. I have said in my previous review that it was not that great as I expected and I guess the product was not really for me. However I also stated in that post that I would have to give this product another chance and purchased another just to try it out and see if my opinion about it would change.

A few days ago I was in the drugstore and as usual I was on the beauty aisle. I saw a rack of the infamous Revlon Lip Butter, this time, with more colors as opposed to my first buy wherein there were only a few shades to choose from. I wasn't going to bother buying another lip butter so soon after I bought my first one especially that I didn't like it that much but I was drawn into it by the promo which was buy one get the next half off so I finally chose my two colors, Sugar Plum and Brown Sugar. Hmmm... I didn't even realize I purchased both shades with the word sugar in it. :)
[Sugar Plum & Brown Sugar]

Sugar Plum

 Brown Sugar

My view on the lip butters still didn't change. I feel that there is something lacking about them and the product just didn't live up to the hype. I am really loving Sugar Plum though. When I purchased the two shades I really thought that I would like Brown Sugar better because I like nudes, but after trying both out, I like how Sugar Plum looks on me. I don't have a lipstick with a plum base so I picked this to try out and I'm glad I did. I have to mention that Brown Sugar is a really nice dupe for Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick in Crystal Honey.

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation

I have a list of drugstore and high end products that I really wanted to try and when I went to the drugstore a few days ago I saw that Maybelline is having a buy one get half off on the next one so I purchased the Dream Matte Mousse Foundation together with the Line Stiletto which are both on my list.

I have been wanting to try this one for a long time but every time I go into the store I keep thinking about how many foundations and tinted moisturizers I have and it seemed to be not a good idea to indulge and buy it but I have a really good excuse when I purchased this one! Last week I went on a family vacation to St. Thomas, USVI (all my posts were scheduled that week) and I got really tan and even my summer foundation doesn't seem to match me and I really needed something with light to medium coverage for the season.

I have never gotten my shade wrong with Maybelline products (thank God!) and I am really very happy with this product when I first tried it out. It has very nice texture and consistency. When I first tried it out, the texture really reminded me of chocolate mousse. It blends easily and perfectly to the skin and gives a healthy, flawless looking skin. Though I was looking for a light to medium coverage foundation this product actually gave me a medium to full coverage. I believe this product is ideal for normal to oily skin because it keeps the face matte but even if I have a dry to combination skin this worked pretty well for me.

There are just some things about this product that one have to be careful about. First is the application. Pressing and sweeping the product all over your face is the best method in applying this product however, be careful of putting too much because it will look cakey. Another thing about this foundation is that it is not long lasting and lasts about 4-6 hours only. It does give a matte finish but it won't hold throughout the day so be wary of shine. It is best to keep blotters and or a pressed powder in your makeup bag.

I would definitely recommend this to you ladies who likes to cam whore... it looks great on camera! Your  night time and flash photography photos would never look better!  I am so loving this product that I think I will purchase this in another shade once I get my natural skin color back. :)

How about you ladies? Have you tried this one? Is it a hit or a miss for you? Let me know your favorite drugstore foundations too!

Sigma Mrs. Bunny Essential Kit Review

I have never tried Sigma brushes and I have heard so many great things about it so I finally decided to give it a go. Days before I finally caved in and ordered from Sigma, I have been going through their brush collections to choose which one I would get. They came out with The Cities collection as well as the Make Me travel brush kits. I was really in dilemma because I also want to try out the Sigmax brushes. I can only pick one and I was in a pinch so I decided that I would get back to it once I finally made up my mind. Two days later I checked Sigma's site again and I found out that the Bunny Collection was finally released.

That blew my mind! I went crazy at the name (hello it's bunny!) and the color for Mrs. Bunny and to find out that this collection is sporting the Sigmax HD fibers! Score! Before I could change my mind I went and ordered Mrs. Bunny Essential Kit.

So the latest Sigma Bunny Collection is synthetic and vegan friendly. It comes in two versions: Mr. Bunny, with black brush handles, and Mrs. Bunny, with pink and blue handles. The travel kit comprises of 7 must-have brushes and the essential kit have 12 face and eye brushes. It comes in a leather functional container that can double up as brush holders.

[You get a free gift when you purchase $30 or more]

First of all I want to praise Sigma for their ingenius concept of their brush canisters which is very sturdy and convenient both for traveling and home use. It is great for organizing your brushes and other long makeup articles. Whichever you may prefer, you can use one cup for eye brushes and the other for face brushes or you could put clean brushes in one and dirty brushes in the other.

I can't begin to explain how wonderful and impressive these brushes are. I'm not a big fan of pink but I just love how the the Mrs. Bunny brushes have pink ferrules that compliment the blue handle and the holographic labels. The brushes themselves are very soft and gentle and really does the job. Since they're synthetic fibers,  they don't absorb product and a little product goes a long way with these brushes. I love how it blends  makeup easily and flawlessly. After playing with them for awhile I really can't find fault in these brushes. I washed it a few times already and so far no shedding and bleeding. The brush plastic guards that comes with the face brushes are also great to keep them in their shape.

I'm gearing to buy the Mr. Bunny travel set. Actually, the travel set is all you need for a complete face. I just wish that Sigma would release other colors for the Bunny Collection. Wouldn't you like that? Vegan Sigmax brushes in amazing colors? :)

The 12 piece Bunny Collection retails at $109 and the 7 piece at $59. There's also an ongoing 10% discount coupon until December 31. Just enter "NY2011" when you check out. These brushes would make great gifts for Christmas for all makeup lovers.

What do you think of these brushes?

Maybelline Line Stiletto Review

I love eyeliners! Eyeliner, together with concealer, are my ultimate makeup products. I could never leave the house without my under eye circles concealed and my eyes lined. With my small, chinky eyes, I really love how eyeliners enhance my eyes depending on how I put on my liner. With a liner, it can make my eyes pop - wider, longer and bolder.

I am getting sick of my current liquid liner which is the Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner because whenever I do my wing, the wing flakes off fast. It is not a nice sight to see. Even if I love the brush tip applicator, the UD 24/7 Liquid Liner is a miss for me.

I have never found a good liquid liner from the drugstore and I've been dying to try out Maybelline Line Stiletto and L'oreal Lineur Intense Carbon Black for their similarity to the Lancome Artliner. I have never been fond of the stiff felt tip applicators but I was willing to give these felt tips a try for their "bendability" and for the awesome reviews I have heard. I purchased the Maybelline Line Stiletto in Blackest Black since I couldn't find The L'oreal Lineur Intense Carbon Black in the store.

I really don't have high hopes with this product but it turned out to be way better than I expected it to be. The felt tip applicator is nice - it doesn't tug on my skin unlike those stiff felt tip liners. I could easily control the application of the liner.  I must say that the tip is not really needle-like thin but it is fairly easy to make thicker and thinner lines that I believe even a newbie at liquid liner application would be able to do a nice winged liner in a few tries. Since I purchased it in the shade Blackest Black the color is really very intense. It also dries fast once applied to the skin.

Another thing I really like about this liner is even if it is not waterproof, it does stay a lot longer than I expected it to be. It also doesn't flake but I do notice a bit of fading after 6 hours or so after application. The  slight fading really doesn't bother me as long as there is no visible flaking since flaking is really noticeable.

For its packaging, it is very sleek and classic looking. For the price of $7.49 (I got mine for $3.74 with buy one get half off at Rite Aid) it is a good liquid eyeliner. I really do like this product and this is a definite hit.

Ladies, hit me up with your favorite drugstore eyeliners. :) I would definitely would like to try them out too!

My Favorite Facial Wash

I have been asked through email about the difference between a facial wash and a facial cleanser as well my favorite facial wash. To address the question I excitedly made this blog post.

I believe that there is very little difference between a facial wash and a facial cleanser. Both cleanses the skin: removes makeup, dirt and oil. A facial wash is mild and gentle on the skin whereas a facial cleanser exfoliates and scrubs away deep seated dirt on the face. Some facial cleansers even claims to remove whiteheads and blackheads.

These are my favorite facial soaps that have worked fairly well for my skin.

On the top of my short list is Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild. This is great for dry to combination skin. It is very gentle but effectively removes makeup and dirt from the skin. It clears up my skin but it doesn't leave my skin dry after washing. This is my ultimate favorite facial wash. The only thing I am not fond of with this soap is the smell - I don't hate it but I don't love it either.

Belo Essentials was established by cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Vicky Belo. This is a Philippine skincare product and I'm not sure if this available in other Asian countries as well.

I have tried both the Whitening Facial Wash and the Pore Minimizing Facial wash from Belo Essentials and they both work great. They have the same consistency as the Clinique Liquid Facial Soap. It is gentle to the skin and both soaps have a skin whitening formula. The period when I was using these facial soaps were the time where my skin was at its best. It not only whitened my skin but also gave me a nice glow. Sadly this is not available in the US and I can't get my hands on these as of now but I'm sure going to stock up on them when I visit the Philippines next year! :)

The last on the list is a bunch of Pond's facial wash. All of them are in foam consistency except for the Clear Solutions which is a scrub and can be categorized as a cleanser. I have practically grown up with these products. If I remember correctly Pond's was the first facial wash I've ever used. Among the Perfect Matte, White Beauty, Perfect Care and Pure White my favorite would be White Beauty. Although I didn't see my skin lighten, it did give me a nice glow.

The latest from Pond's is Pure White which was really very interesting because it has activated carbon which claims to deep cleanse even in its foam form. By the way, it does stand true to its claims. My skin would really feel squeaky clean after I use it.

All of the Pond's Facial Foams lather really well that a small amount goes a long way. All of them has nice, distinct but not nose offending smell. The skin feels really smooth and clean after the wash but the only thing about this brand of facial wash is that using it both in the morning and evening will really dry your skin out. I prefer using this only in the evening and it did my skin good. If I am correct, these facial foams are available only in Asia.

I am going to put up another review on my favorite facial cleansers so stay tuned to my next blog post!

Urban Decay NAKED Palette Review

A few days ago I finally got my hand on this cult favorite, the Urban Decay Naked Palette. This has to be one of my best purchases ever.

This palette retails for $48 and it has 12 warm neutral shadows, the Urban Decay Good Karma shadow brush and a small bottle of the original Urban Decay Primer Potion. I believe that when this palette first came out this contains a dual ended Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On pencil.

This is an amazing palette and I can't believe I have waited this long to purchase this. I have been meaning to get this for a long (exaggeratedly long!) time but I keep telling myself that I have a lot of neutral shadows and warm palettes already and I don't need this one. Boy, was I totally wrong. This palette lives up to the hype - no wonder everybody loves this!

The palette itself is very well thought of. The colors go together and you can make a whole range of day to night looks with just this palette. The shadows are very pigmented and for darker, smokey looks, it is buildable too. It is soft and blends easily. Virgin is a nice brow bone highlight and Naked and Buck are perfect blending colors. I love wearing neutral smokey eyes so my favorite shades from the palette would be Smog and Hustle with Naked as my blending shadow. For bright inner eye corners the perfect shadow would be Sin. As for the packaging, I'm loving the felt and cardboard material that makes it very lightweight. I would've liked a bigger mirror for this palette but other than that I have nothing bad to say about this palette. It is just AMAZING.

I have been taken over by this palette and I can't wait to get my hands on the NAKED2.

Stila Lip Glaze Review

Here's a perfect stocking stuffer: the Stila Lip Glaze! If you have read my previous blog posts, I purchased the Stila Holiday Lip Glaze set at Urban Outfitters when I was shopping during Black Friday. I have finally gotten myself to review this after trying out and playing with all the shades. The holiday set has 8 shades of lip glaze, a $110 value for the price of $25.

The set includes Apricot, Kitten, Kaleidoscope, Grapefruit, Fantasy, Starfruit, Dreamy and Believe. Each lip glaze in the set is .05 oz and the regular lip glaze that retails for $22 is .08 oz. It's really not that much of a difference (well it is if you're a lip gloss junkie since you'd run out of these babies quickly) if you use gloss infrequently like I do.

Each glaze smells heavenly and the taste is not bad at all. I usually tend to lick off my lip gloss and that's why I really love BBW's sweet tasting Liplicious. The glaze adds a light to sheer color to the lips. This also makes my lips a little bit plump. Consistency-wise of the product is okay. It is a bit thick and a little sticky but it is just perfect if you apply only little bit of the product. Applying too much results to a very gunky and glossy lips so I just like putting a dab on the middle of my lips and distribute the product evenly with the brush - this is another reason why I like this product. The brush applicator makes it easier to distribute the product precisely on the lips. With the pros however, there's a con to the applicator too. Brush applicators and doe foot applicators breed bacteria. This does not only seem unsanitary but in the long run, the growing number of bacteria plus the sweet smell of the gloss will turn into a rotten odor that is really not great for use. This is a great lip gloss but my only advice is to use the product well so as to not let the product go to waste. Lip glosses are on of those beauty product that does not really last a long time.

Revlon Lip Butter Review

I've finally gotten my hands on the Revlon Lip Butter that perhaps every youtube beauty guru and beauty blogger has been raving about. I was intrigued by all the hype that this has been making so I was continuously on the hunt for this. This item has been selling out at my local Rite Aid for a couple of weeks now and they finally have this one on stock and it's already nearly gone again. There were only five shades left and I decided to just get one because I'm not so sure about this product and I hate wasting money on products I don't like. I'm not really the one who likes returning items either except if it really doesn't work for me.

Anyway, I purchased the shade Cherry Tart. It is a cherry red in color. This Revlon Lip Butter is very moisturizing and very nice smooth application. It is pigmented and one swipe from it can give you a nice stain but it is also buildable and a couple more swipes appear to look like a freshly glossed lip. I'm not sure if this is true to all the Revlon Lip Butters but this Cherry Tart has shimmers. When I swatched it on my hand I noticed a very faint vanilla smell that is reminiscent of the MAC lipsticks.

This product does stay true to its name: lip butter. It is indeed very moisturizing and has a rich color that is very ideal for the winter season. However, personally I'm not really ecstatic about this product when I tried this. I don't know why but it seems that it doesn't live up to the reviews and raves of beauty bloggers around the world; I feel like there is something missing about it for me. Maybe I just expected too much from this product that I feel that it is a lacking at some point. This is really a great product but it is just not for me. I'm willing to give this product a chance though and I might be purchasing another one just to see if maybe it was just the shade that I'm not so happy about. I'll give this a rating of 8/10, ticking off two points just for that personal reason.

Classic Glam Holiday Look

I'm on a roll this week! Since I'm leaving for vacation on the 10th and be back on the 17th I thought I just have to treat my readers into several makeup looks this week since I won't be posting anything next week.

This look is very classy and glamorous. Going to a fine dining or impressive socialite party this would be absolutely perfect. I'm actually using the Urban Decay Naked Palette that I just received two days ago from the mail. The eyes are a softer version of the first look I did, the Holiday Party Look, but the lips speak differently.

Sorry for the poor lighting in the pictures. It's been raining a lot and it's so gloomy. Pictures are much better with natural sunlight but oh well, I guess I just have to deal with the weather.

Enjoy being fabulous!
